Our Dental Laboratory
Advanced Digital Technology and Experienced Dental Craftsmanship
At Fortuna Dental, our in-house dental laboratory combines modern digital technology with traditional dental laboratory techniques to produce a wide range of dental restorations and prosthetic appliances.
Having our laboratory within our dental facility allows our dentists and technicians to communicate directly throughout each case. From the initial digital scan and design to milling, 3D printing, zirconia processing, ceramic pressing, acrylic processing, metal casting, finishing, and final adjustments, each stage is handled by our laboratory team.
Our Digital Dental Workflow
Our laboratory begins many cases with a digital scan received from the dental clinic. The case information is entered into our digital system, allowing our technicians to review the patient's information and begin the design process.
Our technicians use professional dental CAD software, including exocad DentalCAD 3.3, 3Shape, and Nexa, to design crowns, bridges, veneers, inlays, onlays, implant restorations, and other dental prosthetics.
During the design process, technicians can define margins, contacts, anatomy, tooth numbers, occlusion, and other important characteristics of the restoration. Digital libraries allow our technicians to select and customize tooth anatomy according to the individual case.
3D Printing and Digital Models
When a physical model is required, our laboratory uses Anycubic 3D printers together with Chitubox Pro software.
The digital model is prepared in the software and sent to the 3D printer. Once printed, the models are removed from the printing platform, washed, and processed through UV curing.
Our laboratory currently operates three 3D printers, including two larger units and a smaller unit, allowing our technicians to process multiple models according to the workload and size of each case.
Digital Milling and Zirconia
Our laboratory uses a digital milling workflow for zirconia and other dental restorations.
Depending on the size and number of units, the milling process can take approximately 15 to 20 minutes for certain individual restorations. Once the restoration is milled, the technician removes it from the milling material and prepares it for the next stage.
Zirconia restorations initially come out of the milling process in a white state. They are then placed into a sintering furnace, where the material is processed to achieve its final strength and characteristics.
After sintering, the restoration is adjusted to the model and prepared for characterization and finishing.
Our laboratory works with high-strength zirconia materials in the 1,200+ MPa range, depending on the specific material and application. These materials are selected for their combination of strength, durability, and translucency.
Zirconia Hybrid Dentures for All-on-X Treatments
Our laboratory also mills zirconia hybrid dentures for All-on-X implant procedures.
These full-arch restorations are digitally designed according to the patient's implant positions, dental anatomy, occlusion, and treatment plan. The restoration is then milled using our digital workflow and processed through the appropriate finishing and sintering stages.
Producing these restorations in-house allows our laboratory and clinical team to work closely together throughout the process. Digital case information can be reviewed, modifications can be made when necessary, and the final prosthesis can be carefully evaluated before delivery.
Our laboratory's digital capabilities allow us to support full-arch implant cases with the same combination of digital design, milling, finishing, and technician expertise used for our other restorations.
Ceramic Characterization and Glazing
After the zirconia or ceramic restoration has been processed, our technicians perform the final characterization.
This may include staining, coloring, surface characterization, and glazing to create a natural appearance and the desired finish.
Our laboratory has multiple furnaces used for ceramic processing, glazing, makeup, and additional characterization.
We also use Ivoclar and Ivoclar Vivadent systems for ceramic processing and pressing.
Pressed Ceramics
In addition to digitally milled restorations, our laboratory is equipped for pressed ceramic procedures.
We currently have three pressing units used for different ceramic applications.
Pressed ceramic restorations can be processed, adjusted, characterized, and glazed by our laboratory technicians according to the requirements of each case.
Crowns, Bridges and Inlays
Our laboratory produces a variety of fixed dental restorations, including crowns, bridges, and inlays.
The production time depends on the size, material, number of units, and complexity of the case.
Because multiple machines may be operating simultaneously, production times can vary depending on the laboratory workload and the complexity of each case.
Dentures, Partial Dentures and Acrylic Appliances
Our laboratory also produces removable dental appliances, including full dentures and partial dentures.
For acrylic partials and denture cases, our technicians use specialized processing techniques to create the appliance, followed by finishing, polishing, and final adjustments.
Some acrylic procedures require controlled heating and curing processes. Certain acrylic materials are cured using heated water and specialized processing equipment.
Once the material has completed its curing process, the appliance is carefully removed, finished, polished, and prepared for final fitting.
Our laboratory also works with different types of partial denture frameworks and prosthetic materials depending on the patient's treatment plan.
Metal Casting and Frameworks
Our laboratory maintains traditional metal laboratory capabilities in addition to our digital workflow.
Metal frameworks and components can require several specialized steps, including waxing, investing, burnout, and casting.
The wax pattern is prepared and invested before going through a burnout process. The investment material is heated to remove the wax and prepare the mold for the metal.
The metal is then melted and cast into the prepared mold using specialized laboratory equipment.
Our laboratory has dedicated equipment for metal burnout and metal casting, allowing our technicians to fabricate metal components and frameworks for appropriate dental cases.

An Experienced Laboratory Team
Our laboratory currently operates with a team of six technicians.
Each technician contributes to different stages of the laboratory workflow, from digital design and model production to milling, ceramic work, acrylic processing, metal casting, finishing, and polishing.
During periods of higher production volume, additional personnel may be added to help manage the workload.
Quality and Attention to Detail
Technology is only one part of the process. Every restoration also requires the experience and skill of a trained dental technician.
Our technicians carefully evaluate margins, contacts, anatomy, occlusion, fit, color, surface texture, and overall appearance throughout the production process.
